Our brain is designed to have short bursts of stress followed by long periods of recovery. If we do not have these long enough periods of relaxation we do not recover from stress. Our nervous system becomes overloaded, it weakens our immune system and damages our organ functions.
When you feel overwhelmed or filled with anxiety bring yourself back in the present, and reset your brain by noticing how safe or well you are in the moment. Breathe deeply 4 or 5 times and establish a sense of peace. Our neuro-biology is responsible for our reactions, so do not take everything so personally.
Gratitude is always the best tool to re-code the neurons in your brain. Every evening look for one new thing you have experienced during the day that you can be grateful for. You will soon find yourself going through your day looking for the thing to reflect upon in the evening. It will help your mind to retrain itself.
